Hey, thanks for googling me. We probably just met at a meetup or client meeting or perhaps you’re a friend of a friend. You’re probably wondering what kind of name Barclay is. Isn’t that a last name? Yep. It’s a Scottish Clan. Of course, I must be of Scottish descent. Nope. My mom is straight off the boat (ok, it was an airplane) from Deventer, Nederlands. My Dad’s family are Irish and Welsh. Maybe some English but he swears they lived in Wales. No matter, the point is that all my ancestors, including my parents found themselves in and around Toronto, Ontario in the late 60s and early 70s. That’s how I got here, mom and dad met and… well hi, here I am and you found me on google. They gave me the name Barclay, after Barclay Plager – the all star defense man and later coach of the St. Louis Blues. That’s the Canadian connection – Hockey – I was named after a hockey player.
In case you’re wondering, I suck at playing hockey. In fact, I can barely skate anymore. I go to McFetridge Arena for free skate every once in a while on Wednesday nights in the winter. I still love the smell of an arena. That never leaves, but I can barely make it around the ice.
More stupid trivia, since you googled me I’m assuming you want to know:
I am learning to play kid’s songs on the baritone ukulele with my youngest daughter. If the goal is fun, then we’re there. Not so good with the ukulele and singing part.
I’ve swum in all the great lakes.
I had to look up swum vs swam.
I had to look up the difference between past tense and past participle. (http://www.usingenglish.com/forum/ask-teacher/7339-past-tense-past-participle.html)
I have a painting hanging in a hotel in South Dakota. (I think it’s still there.)
